A special message to all my wonderful couples

How are you doing? Very up and down I imagine like most of us?
I thought I’d send you a bit of happy post just to keep you up-to-date from my end at least.

I’m upset, of course, for all those who have had to or will have to cancel their weddings this year. Everything is a bit uncertain at the moment and I fully understand that dates are not able to be rearranged.
I’m sure you know how I value each and every one of you who supports my small business.

I started it 20 years ago on a wing and a prayer with no money in the bank and refusing to borrow money to make it work. I thought if it worked it worked and if it didn’t it didn’t. But better to try and fail than live a life wondering ‘what if’. Thankfully, I've managed to keep my head above water and I'm still needed to do what I love best.

I want to reassure you I'm not closing... that's not an option and there are benefits to having a small humble property with an amazing landlord. I'll be back open to the public as soon as I possibly can.  The website will be open 24/7 in the meantime. So all is well with the world.

I’m not going to lie and say it was easy, some months especially in the early days,  were terrifying, but I’ve always had the belief that everything works out in the end and all will be well. It's thanks to you that it works!

The success of any business lies with your customers and I really feel honored that you trusted me to make your wedding stationery. A little bit of me goes out with every order. So, here’s the thing, if you bought your invitations from me, I will make you FREE OF CHARGE some small A7 change of date cards when you’ve managed to reschedule your wedding. It’s not a lot I know, but if you’ve sent your invites out, you’ll only need to change a few details and I think this will help. It’s just my way of giving back in gratitude for helping support me.

Keep up to date or contact me through fb:

Please be aware that the page will most probably contain less wedding stuff and more home life, cat pictures, garden pictures, motivational quotes and whatever else randomly pops into my head right now.

I think I'm acting a bit on the weird side at the moment.... but hey... that's nothing new! This isn't a time for being 'normal'.... it's a time for being human!

(As above.... it may get a bit random!).

If you have any worries or concerns please feel free to chat.
In the meantime, stay safe, stay calm and stay positive.
This is just 1 day of the whole of the rest of your lives together.

Thank you so much for your continued support,
it means the world to me!

REMEMBER: We’re in this together.

Love and bright blessings,
Sue xox

P.S. Just a little side note....I'm using this time to catch up on Blogging, Adding to my website, building up my Pinterest board and doing lots of other important but often neglected work-related stuff... so to avoid lots of cat and home and random stuff, please let me know what you need to see or read and I'll write about that.

Lord of the Rings themed wedding invitations

When Lex entered the studio and told me she was having a Lord of the rings themed wedding I almost  squealed with delight.

The one thing that gets my creative juices flowing is something totally unconventional.

After some thought and with the full go-ahead from Lex I decided on a long, thin 4 fold invitation to look like a scroll and with a tear off R.S.V.P. card (important if you want guests to respond quickly).

Because I wanted it to look like a scroll I decided to order in some parchment effect paper.  and  together we decided on the font colour of green, Kraft envelopes and purely by chance found some green twine at the craft store.

Rather than just adding the twine to fasten everything together I took their initials and changed the J.R.T. into a monogram which looked pretty damn good inserted into a circular tag.

I decided to make the gift request cards that little bit smaller and add them inside the card rather than part of the card. I think they look more subtle this way.

The envelope seals were a little added bonus as it would be rude not to use the monogram a second time and they fit perfectly into the circular label.

Rather than pay for extra printing just for the address on the back of the R.S.v.P.'s I managed to also get hold of these craft coloured stickers.

All in all I had a wonderful time designing and playing around with these invitations and what's more the couple seemed pleased too.

This is what happens when you bounce ideas around with your wedding stationer and you are both singing off the same hymn sheet.

I can't wait to make their on-the-day stationery.

If you like what you see above or have ideas of your own, feel free to contact me and let me know what you are looking for, perhaps I can help.

Real Yorkshire Weddings - Abigail & Nicolas

The best thing about meeting a Bride and Groom in person is very often their initial ideas and theme of wedding can sometimes turn into something much better.
Abigale & Nick were having a golf themed wedding and during discussion it became clear that some of the ideas may look a little childish and like a kids party invite.

When I was told the Bride was from Yorkshire and the Groom from Durham, I suggested we put the two emblems together and create on that joined them in harmony and this resulted in a nice cohesive blend which we could carry though from the invitations right through to the On the Day stationery.

Below are just a few of the items I made for them.

And a lovely email followed:

Just back from Neasham, sorting out the marquee and wanted to thank you for all your help ,advice and expertise over the last few months. Many guests commented on the seating plan, postbox, order of service and posters, loving the high quality and classiness of all you did. It looked amazing and the whole day was magical and went off as smooth as silk, everything slotted beautifully into place, even the weather after that horrible storm, just as the wedding ars arrived at our house, got drier and drier and sunnier and sunnier, even managed some photos on the river bank. It was just perfect, over too soon and thoroughly enjoyable. Abigail and Nick are going off on a minimoon tomorrow until Friday but will be in touch with her thoughts etc. when she gets back. Peter will drop the easel and post box off at yours on Tuesday. We are going up to Neasham to house and dog sit for them but P has to come back into town for a docs appointment on Tuesday, so will call in. Just a bib thank you you have been a star throughout!

Wording Ideas for Your Wedding Thank You Cards

After planning your entire wedding, you are probably feeling overwhelmed and tired and the last thing you want to think about is Thank You cards. Right? but if your guests hadn’t turned up and bestowed you with both their presence and presents I can assure you, that your wedding would have been pretty crap. The least you can do is send them a card to show your gratitude.

Wording can be a stumbling block so here are a few Wording Examples for Your Wedding Thank You Cards:
1, Thanks to you
“Thank you so much for celebrating with us on our wedding day. It truly was the best day ever and it would not have been the same without you! We are so grateful for your generosity and for sharing our most special day ever with us.”
Your family & friends really made your wedding day, right?
Well tell them by saying: “Best day ever, thanks to you!”

2, Even more magical..
“Thank you for celebrating with us on our wedding day! Your presence made the day even more magical. We are very grateful and happy to have such amazing friends and family. Thank you for the generous gift. We appreciate all the love and support.”

3, From the gusts of wind..
“We loved sharing our wedding day with you, and we wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making the day so memorable, and for your generous wedding gift.
From the gusts of wind during the ceremony to the laughter and tears of happiness during the speeches, to the skilful moves on the dance floor, it made our day so special and one we will never forget.
We feel so lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives.”

4, Are you feeling lucky?
“From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for celebrating our marriage with us. It was the most incredible day of our lives, and it wouldn’t have been the same without you.
We are so lucky to be surrounded by a beautiful circle of friends and family that made our wedding day perfect. We are grateful for your presence, warm wishes and generous gift and look forward to sharing many more memories with you!”

5, Words that speak volume
“It meant the world to us to have you as part of our wedding day.
Thank you for the love and laughter that you have contributed to our lives. We are so glad that you were able to join us (insert place or venue name) on our first day as husband and wife.
It was the most wonderful day of our lives and it would not have been the same without you! We are truly grateful for your generosity and presence on our special day.”

6, The most important part
“From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for sharing in our special day and making it the most memorable days of our lives. From getting wet during the ceremony and then dancing the night away under the stars on the dance floor we definitely felt the love from you all on the day.
Thank you so much for your generous gift. This will help us create our new home when it is built.
We are looking forward to sharing the next chapter of our lives together and sharing many more memories with you all.”

7, A dream come true
“We thank our family and friends for celebrating our joy, supporting us and sharing in our love. We sincerely thank you for making our day perfect and sharing in the day our dreams came true.”

8, Spill the beans
“Thank you so much for being a part of our wedding day. It was so great to have you all there to celebrate with us.
We really appreciate all your kind and generous gifts and contributions toward our honeymoon. We had the most amazing time travelling around Italy in September/October.
We can’t wait to see what the future will bring for us and we are excited for you to be a part of it.”

9, Made it!
“We made it through our 1st year!
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to extend a belated, but heartfelt thank you for travelling near and far to share in the joy of our wedding. We had the most amazing day which was made all the more memorable as we were able to share it with you.

Your love, warm wishes and generous gift are truly appreciated. Thank you!”
